YASHMI

I'm from Vaughan, Ontario, situated on the Treaty 13 lands of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation, and the traditional territory of the Huron-Wendat and Haudenosaunee peoples. I'm currently a third-year Bachelor of Medical Sciences student at Western University, pursuing an Honours Specialization in One Health. I am joining the TEST Lab as an Undergraduate Summer Research Intern, supervised by Dr. Bowness. My work focuses on community-directed adaptation research. I'm interested in how adaptation planning can be shaped by community priorities, local knowledge, health perspectives, and respectful facilitation processes. As a One Health student, I approach this research as a learner, curious about how relationships between people, communities, environments, and health systems shape responses to climate change. This internship is supported through Western University's Undergraduate Summer Research Internship (USRI) program.
