Laísa
Laísa Boechel Barcelos, is a Brazilian agronomist and PhD candidate in the Graduate Program in Agroecosystems at the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC), in southern Brazil. She holds an M.Sc. in Agroecosystems from UFSC and is part of the Sustainable Rural Development group. In partnership with the NGO Cepagro and Guarani communities along the Atlantic Forest coast, her research focuses on Indigenous-led agroecology, rural extension, and food sovereignty, framed by decolonial perspectives.
As a Visiting PhD researcher and Research Assistant at the Towards Equitable Sustainability Transitions (TEST) Lab, supported by an Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) scholarship, Laísa collaborates on joint reflection between the TEST Lab, Cepagro, and Guarani communities on how agroecological organizations can strengthen their relationships with Indigenous peoples within the broader agroecology movement.
