Joshua

Nwabuisi Chibudo Joshua is a second-year Master’s candidate in the Department of Geography and Environment at Western University, London, Ontario. He is originally from Southeastern Nigeria, and holds a Bachelor's degree in Agricultural Economics from Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Abia State, Nigeria and a Master’s in Sustainability Studies from Trent University, Peterborough, Canada. His research aims to understand the role of traditional food festivals focused on root crops in building food sovereignty and climate resilience for Indigenous communities in the global south in water-stressed regions, particularly, the Igbo (Nigeria) and Tremembé (Brazil), using Photovoice. This community‑engaged project draws on Dr. Bowness's funding from the Western Research Internal Knowledge Mobilization and Research-Creation Grants and the SSHRC Partnership Development Grant. Additionally, Joshua is the 2025 Esri Canada GIS Scholarship Awardee from Western University. As an Igbo researcher, Joshua is committed to ethical, reciprocal research collaborations in both communities.
